Parents

What began as the Newman Club more than 60 years ago, Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) is a vibrant, faith-filled community of Catholic students at Old Dominion University. We are blessed by the unique personalities and gifts of each student who participates in our ministry. However, one of the greatest challenges to our community is identifying Catholic students at a state university campus. You can help in any of the following ways:

  • Encourage your ODU student to check out our ministry by visiting the website themselves and become involved.
  • If your student lives on campus, send us their campus mailing address and we will send a welcome letter and invitation to be involved. You can send the address to Geri at geri@ccm.hrcoxmail.com
  • When you bring your student to campus, drop by the CCM house with them. This may make it easier for them to come alone or with friends to our events.
  • If your student will be living at home, definitely encourage them to come by the CCM house. When you have an opportunity to come to campus, you too are welcome to stop in. Consider bringing your family to one of our Sunday Masses.
  • Please take a minute to complete and submit the Parent Contact Form. You will receive periodic newsletters in the format of your choosing; US mail or e-mail. It will also enable us to send you information when we host special events for parents and families.

As you know, college is a time when students are searching for their own identity, claiming their own values, forming life long behavior, as well as making decisions about relationships and careers. At the same time, they are susceptible to many outside influences including interacting with other students who have different value systems. Catholic Campus Ministry at ODU offers an inviting and supportive atmosphere in which students can worship together, serve and socialize. Alumni often return and tell us how meaningful their participation in CCM was and how it continues to influence their lives today. We strive to foster in students a passion for their faith, vision and skills, which will help them become leaders in the Church and the community beyond.

Your financial contribution that can be made any time during the year will help advance the vision and mission of Catholic Campus Ministry. You may make an on-line contribution using a credit card through Pay Pal or send a check to Catholic Campus Ministry at 1306 W. 49th St. Norfolk, VA 23508. Please make checks payable to “Catholic Campus Ministry”. Your gift will be personally acknowledged.
