Alumni Profile: Steve P.

What do I remember best about CCM?

I remember insightful conversations at Thursday night dinners, good friendships with other CCMers during my college days, and nurturing a belief that God is always present in my life and always will be. I also remember fun trips on Encounter and Springbreak, which bring back wonderful memories of bonding with other students and fellowship.

I also remember free dinners after Mass, which gave me a motivation to want to go to church on Sundays (smile)!

Alumni

It began in the spring of 1947 when a few Catholic students decided to form a Newman Club on the campus of Old Dominion University. Not much is known about those first few students who established a recognized Catholic presence, but over the years the desire to gather Catholic students, faculty, and staff remains strong.

We hope that this page will give former students an opportunity to reconnect with the current community of Catholic Campus Ministry. We invite you to help us fill in some of the blanks. Do you have a memory you would like to share? We’ll be happy to feature it on this page and make it part of our permanent archives.

If you would like to contribute to the ongoing work of Catholic Campus Ministry, click on the “donate” button on this page. Be assured your gift will go directly to student activities and programming such as retreats, Sunday suppers, Thursday dinners and discussions to name just a few.

In 2004, the Catholic Campus Ministry Alumni Chapter was established through the Old Dominion University Alumni Association. Soon after, they began an effort to endow at scholarship for a Catholic student studying at ODU. That effort continues today as we attempt to reach a goal of $25,000 which will provide the corpus and allow an annual award of $1,000 to a deserving student.
