June 7th, 2010Incoming Freshmen – Preview
April 13th, 2010Welcome to incoming freshmen! Look for the Catholic Campus Ministry table during your Preview. CCM will have a table at all Previews. At the CCM table you can learn about programs and activities offered by CCM, and meet the campus minister and student leaders. And during your Preview visit please stop in the CCM house to say hello, rest, and meet other students. The CCM house is located on 49th Street one block west of the stadium, across the street from Webb Center.
ODU CCM at Guitar & Ensemble Institute
July 28th, 2010
Six members of the music ministry at Catholic Campus Ministry at Old Dominion University attended NPM’s Guitar & Ensemble Institute, July 19-23 at Marydale Retreat Center in Erlanger Kentucky. The program included workshops in voice, guitar, percussion, keyboard, and ensemble direction, as well as prayer services, staff concert, open mic night, and new music repertoire showcase. Pictured left to right are senior Marc Thompson, junior MJ Sargent, senior Meg Thompson, Music Minister Fred Johnson, and Assistant Music Ministers Michael Walker and Bobbie Jo Jonas. The ODU CCM group conducted Wednesday evening prayer service and performed during open mic night. MJ Sargent, Meg Thompson and Marc Thompson also performed separately during open mic night. For the second year in a row MJ Sargent was selected as psalmist for the Mass that culminated the week of retreat and workshops.
Fall Events at CCM
June 9th, 2010In May the new student leadership team completed a successful retreat and planning session at Sandbridge. Some of the events planned for the coming fall semester are:
- Sunday dinners, after Mass
- Dinner and discussion on Thursdays
- Back to the books BBQ before the first football game
- Empowering Catholic Campus Leaders retreat with Music Ministry Workshop
- Open mic night
- Homecoming week/parade/game
- Small group/bible study/faith sharing
- Movie nights, including movie and dinner on the lawn at the CCM house
- Catholic Youth Day at Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion
- Trick-or-treating for canned goods to donate to charity
- Trips to the Norfolk zoo and driving the holiday light show in Virginia Beach
- Thanksgiving basket for family in need
- Advent retreat
- Christmas caroling
Also we expect there will be interfaith co-sponsored events to join in. There will be much going at ODU CCM this coming fall!
